Section Title
National Junior Honor Society (NJHS) focuses on helping the community with the five pillars:
-
Character
-
Citizenship
-
Leadership
-
Service
-
Scholarship
The Linda Vista Adventist Elementary School NJHS Chapter is an exciting academic organization that focuses on service projects and helping others. If students are selected for NJHS, they are required to attend all meetings, participate in community service, maintain an emphasis on academics, and become a role model for peers.
Selection for the National Junior Honor Society follows a clearly defined process. In order to be eligible for consideration, students must meet an average minimum cumulative GPA of 3.5 for quarter 1 and quarter 2. Once students who meet that academic requirement are identified, a faculty committee reviews those names to discuss additional criteria such as behavior and citizenship to determine whether candidates meet the standards in those areas as well. Students who successfully meet all criteria are then sent a formal letter inviting them to apply for membership.
National Junior Honor Society is a nationally recognized organization that promotes and recognizes scholarship, emphasizes service, and develops leadership, character, and citizenship. NJHS is a sister organization of National Honor Society, which is available to students at the high school level.
